Why I Created VoiceRise
I started as a radio DJ when I was just 13 years old and began singing publicly at 14. For most of my life, people have literally paid me to use my voice.
I've used it behind a microphone, through music, in business, and in front of audiences. From the outside, you might assume confidence simply came with it.
But that's not the whole story.
There have still been times when I've questioned whether I was good enough, qualified enough, prepared enough—or whether someone else could do it better. I've worried about what others might think. I've second-guessed myself. And there have been moments when I've waited for confidence to show up before I was willing to take the next step.
That's when I began to understand something important:
Having a voice and having the confidence to use it are two very different things.
I've learned that confidence doesn't always come first. Sometimes we have to recognize the thoughts holding us back, challenge them with truth, trust what God says about who we are, and take the next step while we're still working through the doubt.
I've also learned how much we can miss while we're waiting to feel ready. An opportunity. A goal. A conversation. An idea we never pursue. Even years of wondering “What if?” because we didn't believe we were capable enough to begin.
That's why I created VoiceRise.
